This tool calculates the average power/heat load of cabinets in a Cold Air-Containment Aisle. It may also be used to calculate the air flow through raised floor vent grills.
It takes in consideration the following parameters:
- Inside and Outside air temperature
- Total air Volume that go through the cabinets
- Number of cabinets
Air Temperature (C)
Temperature inside the POD cold Aisle. Tipicaly aprox. same as out of CRAC.
Out (room) Air Temperature (C)
Temperature outside, at the hot Aisle. Tipicaly aprox. same as return to CRAC.
Total Air Volume (m3/h)
Total volume of air pushed by the CRAC equipment to the cold Aisle.
NOTE: Heat Absorbtion is calculated with the temperature variation on the quantity of air (volume).
Number of Grids Quantity of floor vented grids where air passes through.
Air Volume / Grid (m3/h): Volume of Air passing through a grid / hour.
Grid open Area (%): Larger opening area streamline the air flow.
Air Speed Grid (Km/h): High air speed is noisy and less efficient (needs more energy).
Air Speed Grid (m/s): High air speed is noisy and less efficient (needs more energy).
Heat Absorbed (Kw)
Calculation based on temperature increase and quantity of air flowing through the cabinets.
Number of Cabinets
Number of cabinets in the POD
Actual Load / Cabinet (Kw)
Actual Power / heat load per cabinet based on the cooling and ventilation data.
